Definición

Aumento anormal del tamaño del hígado que habitualmente constituye un signo de enfermedad hepática. La hepatomegalia puede estar causada por hepatitis u otra infección, por infiltración grasa, como ocurre en el alcoholismo, por obstrucción biliar o por una enfermedad maligna.
